Biographical History

Rev. Samuel Davies Hoge D.D. was a Presbyterian minister born in Shepherdstown, Va., in 1791. He attended Hampden-Sydney College and graduated in 1810. He stayed at Hampden-Sydney as a tutor but eventually became a professor and even acted as vice-president at one point until he left to begin active ministry work in 1816. He died in December 1826.
