Plans for the house offer a glimpse into antebellum architecture, in particular plans for a structure intended to house not only a family but enslaved servants.

Content Description Bound manuscript detailing the life and memorial of Lancaster Brown, a part-time employee of the Chi Phi Fraternity at Hampden-Sydney College. The manuscript was assembled by Hampden-Sydney's Chi Phi Alumni of the 1960s, who have also funded a scholarship in Mr. Brown's memory.
